Meet Ms. Pitts
I have been teaching at Ray School since 1995. Originally I had Room 112 and I taught the 2nd grade for many years. Then I "looped" with some of my second graders from 2nd to third grade then on to fourth grade. I am so lucky to be teaching fourth grade again. It's going to be a wonderful year.
I graduated from Kenwood High School right here in Hyde Park, but it seems likes ages ago. I then went on to complete my undergraduate degree at Northwestern University and received a Master's degree from Concordia University. Traveling, seeing the world and learning about other cultures is my passion. It is my ultimate goal to set foot on every continent (well maybe all but Antarctica). So far I only have Australia left. My plan next summer is to travel to New Zealand maybe I'll even get to Sydney which is the capital of Australia. I use every opportunity to use what I have learned from my travels to enrich the curriculum in my classroom.
Reading, gardening and using my creativity in many different media are my next most favorite things to do in my spare time. I dabble a little bit in photography, jewelry making, scrapbooking, and this more recently returned to sewing which I had postponed until I had better equipment. This year it will be my great pleasure to encourage artistic expression as much as possible in my classroom.
